great service, horrible for photos
I guess you get what you pay for. After reading all these positive reviews, I finally decided to give non-Epson ink a try. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I thought everything was going well when the printer recognized it, but when it did the nozzle test there were a few “blank” sections where the ink was not laying down. I have tried doing head cleaning several times, but this does not resolve the issue, just moves the blank sections around. I have had this printer for two years and have never had this problem before when using Epson ink. What it boils down to is that this ink works okay if you are only printing color printoffs of web pages or something, but NOT for photos (but then why bother having a photo printer?). My photos have visible lines in them, like you would get with a very low-quality non-photo printer. Some have even come out with drops of ink all over them. I will be throwing these out as soon as I order some new Epson ink…unfortunately for my wallet

COMPATIBLE INK CARTRIDGES
These work well. I like the compatible cartridges because they are cheaper. I don’t print pictures with any brand of compatible ink cartridge because they don’t work well, the colors are off. I do like them for everything else because of the price difference.

Let me just say, this product is awesome!

Epson is such a joke; had I thought it through further, I would have seen how expensive printer cartridges were going to be, and probably would never have bought the printer. In my case, I got my Epson Stylus Photo R220 for only about $90. To replace all of the ink cartridges with Epson ink, it costs about $75. I can very nearly get a BRAND NEW PRINTER for that! Add that to the fact that every time you even turn on the printer, it AUTOMATICALLY uses up 3-5% of your ink!! Just for turning on your printer! What is that all about??!? They say it’s for ‘head cleaning’ or whatever, I say it’s 3-5% closer to making you buy more ink. Then, to top it off, when you do get to zero percent on the cartridges, they are not actually empty!!! I’m not kidding; there is some chip in there that just decides you’re at zero, even though you have ink left. You can buy this thing that lets you re-write the chip and fool it into letting you actually finish all of the ink you paid for, but come on; why should we have to go to such lengths? Apparently there was a class action law suit about this very phenomenon, and Epson lost. So… I should stop complaining.

My saving grace is this product right here! All that ink for such a great price! I don’t even worry about turning my printer on or off anymore, because now I know I can get these refills, cheaply, that look and work perfectly. They also came to my door incredibly fast! I have no complaints and I recommend this product to everyone.

Pay less, get less
So far I’ve used 4 of the 10 cartridges. Two were totally unusable (not recognized by the printer). One clogged so badly I had to clean the printheads every time I printed something, wasting ink on all four cartridges. I’ll use the remaining cartridges but to me the cheaper price is not worth the hassle.

10 for the price of 1 ! As good as OEM in my opinion.
I don’t know how many after-market manufactures of this ink has been sold through Amazon and other places but I found one that works so good I am going to purchase some more very soon. The manufacture seems to be “CeBIT CTC Global Sources”. I have never seen them before but there so many manufactures it’s hard to know them all. The ink cartridges seem to be very well made and packaged very nice! I have had to use two cartridges so far with no drips, spots, clogging or anything bad happening to my printer or documents I have printed. I do know that a friend of mine had purchased the same ink and he told me he had many problems so I went to his house and had a look for myself. He forgot to pull the yellow tab of paper off the cartridge so the ink can flow on its own. After I pulled the tabs off for him everything worked very good. One think that I did not like is the lack of any documentation for the installation of the cartridges. Other than that it has been a very nice experience and I hope more users can have as much luck as I did. One last thing to look at when you purchase the ink is the “Use Before” date. If that was out of date it may give you some troubles so keep an eye out. My use before date was 2009-12-31 and the production date is January 2006. I hope this helped someone.

Reseller is OK, Cartridges stink
Have gone through 2 black cartridges in only a few weeks. The first one started leaving blank bands all over the page after a few days. Thought I had a dud so I put in another. It started doing the same thing after a week and left blobs of black ink scattered on the page.

Great value
You won’t find even ink refills from stores cheaper than this.
It’s free shipping, tax free (at least it was when I bought it in California), and so far works flawlessly.

The biggest drawback about this cartridge (or any HP-compat 74 cartridge, for that matter) is it’s rated at ~250 pages.

Didn’t Work
This cartridge wouldn’t work in my printer. It is the right size, but the printer would not recognize it – printer said it was empty and would not print. The price was great (except it appears to be money down the drain), and the shipping time was very quick.

Not sold on these.
I bought three of these. The first one never really worked right. It printed really light and text was blotchy. Cleaning the head with an alcohol swab seemed to help, but I had to do that several times. The second cartridge has worked completely perfectly.

Update 10/27/2009:

Cartridges work just OK, not great. I would not buy again. You have to clean the head with alcohol regularly to get them to work. And the 3rd cartridge I’m on now refuses to print any shade of gray, will only print black. I would not buy again.

good item, cheap price
I have the hp psc 1315v and it works fine for my printer. I haven’t used it enough to see if it last as long as the original. However, for now, I would recommend.

GOOD INK BAD FIT
I got this thinking that the cartridge would work in HP PSC 1315 as it states but after MULTIPLE tries and removing and putting back in kept coming up with an error.

Fantastic ink cartridge
I have the HP PhotoSmart 8450 and with this ink cartridge I get fantastic photo prints that look like Professional Lab Photos. I am very very pleased with this product.

Printer cartridge
The cartridge worked good first two days,but has been a small pain by needing to be popped out and back in for some unknown reason to keep printing. The printer will direct me to “check right cartridge” and will not print until the cartridge is unseated then re-locked in. It will print fine then.

Finally a workout game that REALLY works me out!
Initial Impression
Wii Active is AWESOME! AWESOME!! I was holding out big hopes for this game because while I love wii fit, golds gym coach and my fitness coach, this game offers full use of the wii motion controls and balance board for feedback. If you do not have the balance board, the game is just as useful.The balance board makes some exercises more “total body” and intense but the game was designed to be used without it. This game is honestly what I thought I was getting when I bought the wii fit! This game is more of a gym style workout consisting of strength exercises with resistance, cardio, and sports drills. There is no yoga in this game nor is there any abdominal work (which I find kind of strange because they were pretty thorough with everything else).

Intensity/Sports Drills
I just finished my second full 40 minute workout and it was great! I feel like I just came back from the gym. I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed the sports drills.I dont enjoy the tennis or baseball on wii sports. But the sports drills on Active are really intense, you actually have to jump to do volleyball serves and the motions are exactly as they are when you play the game.

Sports included are Baseball (pitching and batting and catching), volleyball (serving, bumping and setting), Basketball (so far I’ve just seen shooting and passing), Skating (with leg lifts), Tennis (serving, fore-shots, volleying,backshots). Basketball shooting involves twisting to grab a ball and then making a jump shot. It really gives a virtual reality feel to sports exercises. During kickboxing you are able to use the balance board to kick the heavy bag and do knee ups which really got my heart rate up. During running exercises, you are placed on a track and the game has you alternate between running, walking, knee ups, and kick ups. I really felt as though I had a coach with me. I used to work out with a personal trainer and this really had the same feel.

Balance Board Use
You ARE able to use the balance board with this game. For the sports drills it made me (uncoordinated as I am) less accurate but it did incorporate more total body usage. For instance, in baseball when you catch you do a side lunge before you reach up or out to catch the ball. There is an option to use the balance board with all the sports drills. I havent seen any resistance exercises that used the balance board though.

High Intensity Exercises
There are some hi-intensity or slightly more advanced strength exercises included such as jumping lunges, jumping squats, squat and hold, side to side jumps, bicep curl with shoulder press, bicep curl with kickback, lateral raise with row, etc.

Setup
After setting up the resistance band and leg strap (easy, took 2 minutes tops) I had to set up a profile. There was great variety on how personalized you can make your avatar look with very cool outfits to choose from. It doesnt let you really change the height of your avatar or age (in appearance) so when I set up avatars for my kids, they looked like adults. You set your goals such as how many calories you want to burn over a period of x number of days, how many workouts you want to complete per week or month, and how many hours you want to workout per week or month. I was surprised it didnt include weight loss goals but then I guess it would have to assume you have the balance board and it tries to stay away from that.

30 Day Challenge
I chose the 30 day challenge simply because it seemed like the quickest way to get started. The range of activities was really astounding and I enjoyed the entire workout. It was great to have the game give feedback on form. Before you do every exercise the first time, it automatically shows you a video on proper form. While I was familiar with most of the exercises, the videos are useful because it shows you how to hold the remote for each exercise. You can skip them if you really want. After you watch them the first time, you don’t have to see it again. The exercises included cardio, sports drills, resistance upper and lower exercises and track. Even if you choose the 30 day challenge, you can still just select individual workouts as well, but I found the challenge to be a great motivator because it will take me through all of the exercises…not just my favorites.

Pre-Set/Customized Programs
You can also choose from more than 50 pre-set programs such as 30 minute lower body, 20 minute sports drills, 40 minute whole body, 60 minute upper body hard or easy, 40 minute cardio only, athletic exercises, 30 minute low-impact, 50 minute hi-impact and many others. Literally, I don’t see potential for getting bored with your exercise routine anytime soon with this game. You can also create your own program by just picking the exercises you like. You can customize it further in that you can choose the duration and intensity for each individual exercise, and intensity and length of total time that you would like to work out for. It sounds like a lot of choices, but it was very simple and I created a very kid-friendly program in about 4 minutes.

Multi-Player Mode
The multi-player mode works really well also. It is best to have the additional player accessory kit but I found that most of the sport drills and upper body strength exercises only require that the second player have a remote and nunchuk anyway so even without it, my kids and husband are able to work out with me. My husband said he would work out with me with the Active because it looks like a real workout (He thought my wii fit and my fitness coach were cute). He was especially impressed with the sports drills.

Bad Knees/Problem areas
The great thing about it is that if you have a weak area or injury, such as bad knees, you are able to see all the exercises you will do in either 30-day challenge mode or pre-set mode and if you can’t do those exercises, you can simply uncheck them. I have bad knees and so I uncheck some of the jumping exercises. It would have been nice if you could set that up in your profile and it simply took those exercises out of your program but being able to select or deselect them day-by-day is probably more flexible.

Age-Appropriate
For those of you who wonder if small children would like it, my kids (age 3 and 5) were able to do the sports drills with me like tennis and baseball very easily (they don’t fare so well with the wii sports version). Since the game is not trying to simulate actual playing, all they had to do was swing the remotes at the right time. They didnt have to worry too much about moving to be in the right place.

Final Anaylsis
I honestly am in Love with this product! Of course I could make suggestions for improvements, (everything can be improved on), but I really think they did an superb job with this. This is what I thought the wii fit game was going to be from the beginning! Since this game focuses more on a gym-style workout, combining it with the balance, core and strength exercises from wii fit and the yoga and variety from my fitness coach really enables me to get a full and varied workout.
However, if you don’t own the other games, honestly I would recommend getting this one. It just gives me a more realistic workout feel.

Tips
1. the resistance band that comes with the game is either light or medium. For those of you who would like to increase this, just purchase stronger resistance bands and use those instead. This really increased the intensity of my workout.
2. Make sure you insert the nunchuck in the holder face down toward the floor or else your mii positioning will be backwards (ie your mii will be squatting down when you are standing upright)
3. It takes some getting used to positioning the remote and nuncheck in the right way for each exercise so that it can properly evaluate your movements….watching the videos, even if you know how to maintain proper form in the gym, is recommended. Dont get frustrated, the game has been pretty accurate as far as I have seen, you just have to make sure you hold the remotes as they tell you to.
4. Those of you who would like to work out with weights or cords versus bands can incorporate that for certain exercises on your own (the game doesnt say anything about this…this is just what I noticed while working out). Things like shoulder presses, bicep curls and squats with ankle weights would work fine with this game.

Wow what a workout!!
Ok, so I was hesitant about spending $60 on a workout game when I already owned three of them – all exclusively for the Wii. After my first 50 minute workout though I can truthfully say that this trumps all of them. It is like Gold’s Gym, the Wii Fit, and My Fitness Coach all rolled into one. After my workout, which included everything from boxing to dancing to running to shooting hoops, I was sweating profusely and feeling great!

What I liked:
- Like the Wii Fit, it incorporates the Balance Board.
- I get to pick my exercises – unlike on the My Fitness Coach
- The graphics were good, the track, courts, etc. actually made me feel a little like I was actually there.
- The running was everything the Wii Fit running was not. It counted my calories and seemed a little more responsive that the Fit.
- I appreciated the feedback I received when doing the stretching exercises… This I missed in the My Fitness Coach- there was no sensor to tell me if I was squatting to high, not jumping in the right rhythm, etc. With EA SA the control that was strapped to my thigh was able to tell the game when I was not doing something right – giving me the opportunity to correct my form.

- I also like the fact that you can work out with a friend.

Cons:
The resistant band is weak – for me anyway but that can be easily corrected with a inexpensive trip to Wal-mart.

I discovered that I may also be buying a wireless nunchuck… the wire was constantly in my way.

It doesn’t track my weight loss.

It’s not really a con but I wish there were step aerobics. It could have easily been worked in.

Overall impression: I’m glad I broke down and paid the $$$ for this game. It far surpasses My Fitness Coach, the Wii Fit, and Gold’s Gym (though I will probably continue to use Gold’s Gym for the boxing routines and the wii fit to track my weight loss). It’s hard core, but I feel it will definitely give me my desired results.

Too Sweaty To Type
I had my EA Active delivered today and I was itching to try it out because I quickly became bored with the Wii Fit games that focused mainly on balance and weight.

It was very easy to get set up. I configured my workout person to look a little bit like me although I hope I am a bit cuter. I kind of wish that they had child avatars for my kids who will play this soon, but that isn’t my biggest need.

I chose to work out on a medium skill level for the 30 day challenge. I’m not ultra fit by any means, but I’d like to think that I could run a mile or two if someone was chasing me. At the beginning of my workout, I started to think that I wasn’t being pushed enough, but by the end, I was sweating like a big dog — which was great. I believe my perception was caused by learning each movement before I started which gave me rest time. At the middle of my workout, some of the prior activities came up again and I was able to go right from exercise to exercise and that’s what I like. This is so much better than the Wii Fit.

I did the running, punching, inline skating (super fun and a killer), side lunges, squats and front shoulder raises for my first workout. Every exercise was entertaining. It did take me a little bit to get used to how you hold the remote, but now I’m a pro. I did do the “couch test” where I placed the remote on the couch to see if the avatar would do the exercise anyway — which it didn’t — unlike some other fitness titles. It really does mimic your movements, which I like.

Time for a shower and I can’t wait for day two of my challenge. I can assure you that you’ll like this game if you put the work into it. The couch won’t do it for you.

WiiFit Newbie – LOVES the FUN new games!!
INTRO:
After years of wanting a Wii, we finally got one! And, of course, like any overly-excited newbie, I couldn’t wait to get the new WiiFit (WiiFit Plus). I picked it up at midnight, with the Balance Board. (TIP: if ur buying from brick-and-mortar stores, call ahead, it took me an hour to convince them that it was ok to sell it to me, and it was already 12:30a!) I got home, set it up (took just a few minutes, mostly unwrapping) and played until 5am! I was nearly falling asleep between games, but it was so much fun, I couldn’t stop! Now, THAT’s a motivator to work out! It even asked if I was a ‘NIGHT OWL’ and I had the option to keep my “day” ‘open’ until 3am, for those late-night workout sessions!

THE GAMES, & WHY I LOVE THEM:
Without leaving my 12′x12′ living room, I can do: Circus Juggling, Skateboarding, Island Cycling, HulaHooping, Rhythm Parade, Segwaying, & Perfect 10 – these are the ones I like the most right now. My current favorite is the Bulls-Eye game (you flap your arms to ‘fly’ over water and reach platforms!) It’s just awesome! And, it’s cool that most of the activities are all on the same island – so you can bike it, run it, walk it, fly it, segway it, float it, bounce it, etc.! I also like that, in most games (not the Bubble one, tho), you don’t ‘die’ if you do it ‘wrong’. Nothing’s worse than almost getting to the end of a cycling game, and then running into a tree and having to start over – ugh! But, with WiiFit, it’s so pleasant, you just maneuver your way back on track! No stress! Yet, I like that u still do collect points – I already have a competition to ‘beat’ my BF’s scores – I even left him a ‘note’ on the wii to try to beat mine in a couple of games, when he woke up! We haven’t tried the ‘multiplayer’ mode yet.

STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY, & KEEPING TRACK:
I LOVE the ‘make your own’ routine – you pick as many activities as you want, from dozens of Yoga Postures, and Strength Training choices (they even tell you how long the total ‘workout’ will take, as you make your selections) and then you hit ’start’; and it cycles thru them, one-after-the-other, checking off each one, as you go; and, saving the ‘routine’ for the future. If you don’t need to have that much customization, or if you need more guidance, you can choose from 5 options for a pre-made routine (Lifestyle, Health, Youth, Form, & Combine), or you can click the cute balance board graphic and it creates one for you! The tracking capability is nice, complete with graphs, and a visual calendar which I ’stamp’ every day I use the WiiFit. You can even add your daily step count AND activities you do outside of the WiiFit! This appeals to my analytical and visual side! Another option it gives you is that you can choose a food (from a selection of 20 or so), and then make a daily goal to burn as many calories as that food has – I didn’t realize sticky rice had so many calories!

SHOW ME THE NUMBERS:
It calculates your BMI from your user-entered height and a balance board-measured weight. The weight measurement seemed a little off, as it made both me and my BF about 5-10 lbs lighter than we’ve been told, from other scales. But, that’s A-OK with me! It seems like it’s mostly set up to help you lose weight and burn calories (while improving your balance & posture), however my BF and I have different goals – I’m trying to lose 20 lbs, and he’s trying to gain 20 lbs. The Wii did rightfully call him underweight and told him to do strength-training to build muscle. It just laughed at me and told me to ’strap in’! haha – jk!

WISHES & BENEFITS:
While it might not be 100% perfect (wish there was no ‘dying’ in the Balance Bubble or Tightrope game; and in the snowball fight, it’d be nice to have the option to physically move my arm to throw, instead of just pushing ‘A’ to throw; skateboarding goes thru a long ‘training run’ every time you play; it would be cool if Super Hula Hoop was more than just Left AND Right circles (like add arms or something); and oh, to be able to enter total calories eaten for the day; etc.), it sure is a LOT of fun and DEFINITELY motivates u to MOVE! The corny but pleasant music, scenery, and challenges are already helping me look forward to getting going in the morning and coming home at night. You earn fit credits, with activities, which then allow you to unlock more advanced activities, giving you a good bit of motivation to keep going – imagine if they gave you ‘legal trade’ currency coins for working out! Plus, it always fits into my schedule: I can do as little as a *minute* of activity or as much as I want! It’s closer than a gym, there’s no monthly dues, you can wear whatever you want, it’s open at 3am, the smoothies are always organic, and (depending on where u play) there isn’t that icky/smelly/sticky/germy/loud atmosphere of a typical gym! Team up with a friend, for a little extra motivation and competition!

SUMMARY:
For those who aren’t familiar with video games, (or who see them as a ‘waste’ of time) this is a great one to ’start’ with. The Wii is my first real game system (other than an old Intellivision, we’ve had Super Nintendo, Game Cube, & Playstations in the house, but with all those cryptic buttons and ‘codes’, and my busy schedule, I never bothered with them). However, the Wii was up and running in no time and the ‘controls’ are very intuitive. I’ve even had a lot of ‘older’ people playing and having fun, in short order! The Balance Board was easy to set up, easy to figure out, and is SUPER fun to play with, oh, and I burned a boatload of calories – woo-hoo! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Wii Balance Board AND the WiiFit Plus!

UPDATE:
Did another 30 mins this afternoon: tried the Penguin Game and the Flame and the Tightrope – all were lots of fun (keeping the flame still was a little stressful with noisy neighbors!)

UPDATE 2:
My parents just came over and I had them try it out, using the “Trial” mode, so they didn’t have to go through the in-depth setup process – my mom really liked the HulaHoop activity and my dad really liked the Bull’s Eye activity (where you flap your wings to fly and land on targets!) We had such a great time – it was hilarious to watch each other!! The trial mode is a great feature – it lets you share your WiiFit Plus experience with guests who are not looking to set up a whole profile and get weighed and do balance tests, etc. Of course, there are those ‘measurement’ options in the Trial mode, if a guest user so chooses, they just won’t be able to save their profile.

A Must Have for anyone feeling out of shape and GREAT for those recovering from Injury!
Ok, so I’m in my mid 40’s, I’ve broken everything from my neck in 2 places to my ankle in 3 places, my knees were rammed into an engine block at 65mph when I was 25 and haven’t been right since, ad in 2 concussions in this lifetime so I don’t have the best balance to boot. Then toss in a nice little dose of being peri-menopausal and HATING doing anything outside in the FL Summer, which lasts for 7 months of 90 degree plus weather, and sprinkle that with a tad of depression from NOT being outside which doesn’t exactly have you running about the house singling merrily while pushing a vacuum and you have 15 extra lbs that you haven’t a CLUE where those little suckers came from , and you are flopping and sagging in places you never knew you had to begin with to ad insult to the poundage! Now according to the wii I’m just above normal putting me in the barely overweigh category, but I FEEL overweight and I know I’ve gotten weaker/un toned and I FEEL it.

I know I needed to and WANTED to get and feel more fit but I HATE gyms, gym rats, the stereo typical gym ANYTHING. I don’t want some sleek 20 year old in my face saying “AGAIN, do it AGAIN” I,.e. (you want to look like me, you never ever will..but try, try HARDER) No thanks!
I don’t want some guy telling me ‘a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips!’ either. And tho I think I’ve seen every late nite infomercial for every get fit contraption there is, and nope, I have not parted ways with my $19.95 yet, nor is their a bow flex in the corner of every room, yet I see many of them for sale in the flyer for $50 bucks HMMMMMMM!

So, for about a year now I’ve been eyeing the nintendo wii with the wii fit. Here, there, everywhere. Then they drop the price. Hmmmm And then they come out with a wii fit PLUS…HMMMMMM. Ok, so me and my $300 dollars took a chance and parted ways. (for the console plus the balance board and wii fit plus)

I LOVE THIS THING! Not only does it calculate your BMI and weight and all that. (Even has a place for you to put Fido or Fluffy on the “scale” but I’ve been too selfish to share yet and see what that’s all about. IT’S FUN! And don’t let the little weeble looking characters fool you, you WILL get a work out. But what’s great, is you’re actually smiling because it is cute and engaging and you don’t feel the pain till after the fact. And you find yourself wanting to…go do some more, too! I’ve given it a dedicated TV and room so I can just wander in there and do 1 or 2 exercises, or spend an hour. It also tells you how many calories you’ve burned for each activity and keeps a running tab-it will tell you how long each day you worked out (cumulative) as well as calories burned, (so I can have that moment on the lips without the lifetime on the hips) for each actively as well as for the day. And IT’S CUTE and it’s FUN, I cant say that enough. And it may look easy, but ITS NOT.

Now I think any GQ gym rat out there who can do 500 chin ups and runs 5 miles every morning might laugh at it. But if you are just an average person who doesn’t want to get out of shape or out of shape person, which are about 90% of us, then its great. Their are a couple more serious sections, Yoga and Weight Training I think, that have more adult looking trainers to guide you, but the rest of the activities are colorful and you are a “weeble”. And it lets you know when you are doing great or not so great, and it is not belittling at all, if anything it makes you want to try to do better next time.

My ONLY complaint is I hate have to push “A” 3 times to get to a game I already played and know how to play-now if you push A fast you can skip past the tutorials pretty quickly, but it still annoys me, because I want to PLAY IT AGAIN. But on a good note, you can walk away from it or get off of it without messing everything up.

And as a person who has been beaten up pretty bad (auto wreck, high speed horse wreck/fall) and who has spent WAAAAAYY tooo much of her life in PT (which can be even MORE depressing than a gym), let me say this, THIS is a GREAT rehab tool. If they would have had one of these in the hospital I would have gotten so much better so much faster. I hope PT rehabs/hospitals and even nursing homes will get and use these! My leg isn’t right, nor are my knees or my balance for that matter, but, wow, I can see improvement already! And I go to bed happily sore, but look forward to DOING IT AGAIN! So even if you have some disability you can still use this! I even cheat when my leg has had enough and can sit on the board and use my tush for some of the games just as well, and I’m still active and moving my upper half! Oh and another helpful hint…don’t do it barefoot like on the box, at the very least wear socks and after hurting the bottom of my sensitive footsie, I now wear rubber soled lightweight slippers to give some cushy to the bottom of my boney feet. Works GREAT.

The only thing I find a little disturbing is the board says something like “ouch” or “oh” when you step on it. If my scale did that I never would have put on 15lbs LOL!

So what are you waiting for…GO BUY THIS, (and I suggest a bottle of Motrin,and maybe a heating pad, because you’ll be having too much fun to notice the pain and soreness till after the fact!)

You can really feel it
So, after 5 days playing and getting exercises with my Wii Fit Plus (from now on WFP), I think I am ready to write a review, I will try to make it short but useful as possible. (English is not my native language, you will notice immediately).

First, about me:
I do not go to the gym (have tried but don’t get used to), nor do exercises, or run… but I do move around a lot because of my job, I work on the field, so I have to walk a lot, also I do eat consciously, from December 2008 to nowadays I have lost 15 lbs and was decided to not go back.
So I was looking at Wii Fit this summer, and knew about WFP and decided to wait. Meanwhile, I was on the blogs, the forums, online videos, about people experience about this game, and I wanted to get fit and have fun.

Then, I got WFP:
I explored the games, the routines, I was doing my daily body tests, I am true about this and I want to get fit. At the end of the second day with WFP, I felt the lack of exercises in my body, for example the Rhythm Kung Fu, some think this mini game is lame, but my biceps were hurting, probably because of the fast move of the arms forward. The Jack-knife made my abs to shake, I was amazed about how weak I was, when I try to hold a pose and start shaking after 10 seconds, I struggle to keep the poses because I know it is working out my body; I feel it, a start to a better life, so, if you are true about this game, pardon, “Investment”, you will feel the work out.

Game play review:
The game fits my needs; I have a wide variety of choosing how and where I want to work out. Example I can choose a category of exercises to work my arms, abs, legs, etc. Also I can combine those to avoid interruption, and the best of all for me, I can select how long I want to work out, 10 minutes, 15, 30… and the game will arrange the exercises to fit that time, in any of Yoga, Yoga & Strength, or Strength only category, and as you do the poses, the game will put a checkmark on it and continue, so you will “carpe diem” that time as much as possible.

About the balance board:
I notice immediately something was not right about my weight according to WFP, so I compared my weight on the balance board to a professional scale (you know, like one of those the doctors have on their office), the scale is calibrated correctly, 1 litter of water is exactly 1 kg, since the weight I get from the pro scale is as I am, with my cloths on (unless I want to weight without cloths, then I will have to weight without cloths on the balance board, that would be the more accurate weight of your body), I chose a cero lb discount (the part where I am asked to select the weight of my cloths), and I did the numbers, and found out and offset of 3 pounds, exactly 3 pounds, my balance board is measuring 3 pounds lower than real weight, and I use the balance board on hard floor, so I do not need the leg extensions.

Other than that, it is very sensitive and does the job… oh! by the way, you will need a yoga mat if you work on hard floor, as some poses requires you to bend on your knees, and if your hands are sweating, or your feet, you will slide off, so get a yoga mat for extra grip and soften bones/floor contact.

So, that’s it, my final review, invest on WFP, do not get it just for the games, they do work you out, but I think this game is targeted to do the fit exercises (Yoga and Strength), after your routine, play some mini games to “carpe diem” your daily use of WFP, as those counts too towards your kcal goal (or Cal, with capital C) and time spent.

Many games will allow you to control your character’s movement with the Nunchuk in your left hand, while your right hand is free to execute the action movements with the Wii Remote. In first-person shooters, the Nunchuk controller carries the burden of movement, freeing you to aim and fire using a more natural motion with the Wii Remote. In a football game, you can make your quarterback elusive with the Nunchuk controller while you search for an open receiver to throw to using the Wii Remote. Serious gamers may even want to use two Nunchuk controllers to gain a fierce competitive edge.

Because the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers are only relatively dependent on each other, players are free to hold them in whichever hand is most comfortable. Great Add-On for two handed games
In martial arts, nunchucks are a pair of short wood rods connected with a chain that ninjas whirl around their bodies With the Wii, the nunchuck is a single controller held in your off hand.

The nunchuck is not the main controller unit for the Wii. The Wii primarily uses the Wii Remote, shaped like a TV remote, for its functionality. The Nunchuck is for use in the “other hand” (i.e. your left hand if you’re right handed) just for a few games. It plus into the bottom end of the Wii Remote with a cable that’s about 2 1/2 feet long. Most of the time, you leave it unplugged and sitting by the console.

For example, in the sports pack that comes with the Wii, only one of the five games uses the nunchuck. This is the boxing game. You use the nunchuck to hit with your off hand, just as you use the Wii remote to punch and jab with your primary hand.

The nunchuck has the same motion sensing technology as the Wii remote does, so that you can move your hand around and the game knows what you are doing. The buttons are much simpler – there is a Z big trigger button, a smaller C trigger button above it, and then a joystick up on top. For some games, no buttons are used at all.

The cable length is designed so you don’t trip yourself with it It’s long enough that if you held your hands apart, you could easily ride even a wide-handled bike. It’s not long enough that you could put both arms straight out to the left and right, though. I’ve never had any problems with the cable length hindering me. None of the games require you to have your hands far apart. In boxing, for example, your hands are always near each other and there’s plenty of cable length even when you’re jabbing.

The nunchuck doesn’t need its own power – it plugs into the Wii remote controller when it’s in use. So there’s no worry about charging up or batteries.

I would definitely have at least one functional nunchuck for my Wii, and if you’re really into multiplayer two-handed games like boxing matches, then having two would be important. However, for most gamers, one will probably suffice!

If you’re going to buy an extra Wii Remote, this is an absolute must-have!
In case you are unfamiliar with the Nunchuk, it is an accessory that simply plugs into the bottom of any Wii Remote. You may have seen Nintendo saying things like “with the Wii Remote, to hit a tennis ball, simply swing the Wii Remote”. This is true for some games, for many others, it is not that simple.

How would one play a game like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess without a Nunchuk? How would you control your character and swing your sword? Would you simply use the + control pad (on top of the Wii Remote) to move your character, and when you get some action, start swinging? How would you move around while in combat? Why am I asking so many questions?

This is where the the Nunchuk adds depth and variety to games like Zelda. The Nunchuk has two buttons (Z and C) and an Analog Stick. In Zelda, the Analog Stick is used for character movement, the Z button is for aiming, and the C button is used to look around. Some games use them (Zelda, Metroid Prime 3 etc.) and some don’t (Boxing in Wii Sports… I think that’s it). But the most innovative feature of the Nunchuk isn’t ON the Nunchuck, but rather IN it.

It has a built-in accelerometer, which in human terms, means that it shares some of the motion-sensing abilities with the Wii Remote. What kind of motion-sensiing abilites you may ask? I’ll give some examples.

When you shake the Nunchuk in Zelda, you do a spin-attack. When you “punch” with it in Boxing (included in Wii Sports), you punch the character you are fighting against. It may not have the pointing abilites of the Wii Remote, but it shares the core motion-sensing abilites, which it also shares with products like the iPhone and SIXAXIS PS3 controller.

To summarize, the Nunchuk attachment isn’t only a cool add-on for the Wii Remote, but it is a neccessary add-on for the Wii Remote. It will set you back around $20, but it is better to buy it now than hear your kids endlessly nag you about it. They are very durable, very innovative, and very fun.

A necessary add on for certain Wii games!
If you have a Wii, you probably noticed one of these controllers included with your system. Certain Wii games require you to attach a nunchuk to your Wii remote.

I’ll admit that when I first saw the nunchuk, I thought it would be impossible to use two controllers at once so I purposefully bought games that didn’t need a nunchuk to play. However, I really wanted the Resident Evil 4 game and it required a nunchuk to play. I bought the game anyway, whipped out my nunchuk, and sat down to play.

I was extremely surprised how easy it was to use both controllers at once. Of course I had a bit of a rough time for the first 15 minutes of play, but from there it was a breeze. The Resident Evil 4 game needs a nunchuk to use the joystick as well as the two buttons because all of the buttons on the Wii remote have uses and the makers obviously needed more buttons. The boxing game that is included in the Wii sports game uses a nunchuk as well. You can simulate the boxing “stance” using the remote and nunchuk. There are quite a few games that need the nunchuk. Don’t shy away from games that need a nunchuk because of how complex it looks. I assure you it’s simple to use!

If your nunchuk is broken or you need an extra one for multiplayer use, I completely recommend buying this.
