For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 46-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung’s 2007 model LNT4661FF is a good choice. Besides offering full 1080p resolution the LNT4661F also features a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle texture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.
Compared to other Samsung Models
The primary differences between Samsung’s LNT4661F and the step-up LNT4665F LCD HDTV is in the contrast ratio and video processing power. The pricier LNT4665F offers a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio compared to this model’s 10,000:1 ratio, and also offers full 10bit video processing over this model’s 8 bit system. The more expensive model should display finer gradients of shading making for more detail in darker scenes. The video processing difference should ensure smoother motion in fast moving scenes for the LNT4065F.
Video Processing
The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.
Connections
- HDMI (version 1.3): 3 (1 CEC cabaple)
- Component video: 2 (Y, Pb, Pr)
- S-Video input: 1 side/1 rear
- A/V inputs: 1 side/1 rear
- PC inout: 1
- Headphone Jack: 1
- USB 2.0: 1
Audio Features
High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.
- Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
- TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
- The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

“Poor Quality” 2009-12-16
By Grover C Strong III
I have had this unit for almost 2 years. Recently, I turned it on. It started clicking like it going to turn-on, but, it didn’t. Finally, after about a minute or so of this clicking sound the TV turned on. I then went to google and did a search of “Samsung HDTV problems”. I was surprised at all the comments of people who encountered the same problem(on different models as well). I spoken with the service company and they suggested I call “Samsung Executive Customer Service” and ask if with they would assist with repair cost(min. cost $200 plus parts). I did and Samsung refused to help. Something for everyone to think about. How many TV’s have you had where the on/off switch did not work? I bet you say, “none”. This is the first TV where I had problems turning it on/off and I bought my first TV over 40 years ago. So, save yourself the trouble and spend a few more bucks and buy a Sony or Panasonic.

“Lots of issues with the product.” 2009-12-15
By J. Kaw (Buffalo, NY)
I bought this TV in March of 2008. The first TV that was shipped had some sound issues and we had to return the same. The second one that was sent was fine for the next few months and then started having some picture quality issues. Since it was under warranty, the technician just replaced a part and it worked fine. About 8 months down, we again had some random picture issues and we had the samsung technision have a look at it, but when the he was home, it was working fine so he did not fix anything. About a few months (and after my warranty had expired), we started having some major picture quality issues. We started having a lot of dark horizontal lines which used to change to a lot of shading for the 1st 10 mins it used to be turned on. The problem has now got worse off late. Since I am not under warranty, samsung does not even open a ticket. They just give you the number of the service center and you have to make a call. I called up the service center at least 20 times, but everytime it goes to voicemail, and as expected no one responds back. The samsung customer service refuses to help and tells you to just contact contact your local TV repair store.
First of all when you buy something for [...] bucks, you expect a warranty of more than a year. A warranty of just one year tells me that Samsung does not stand behind their product. And once your warranty runs out, they not even help you get it fixed, even when you are ready to pay for it. I am never going to be buying any samsung product ever again. Go for a Sony or even other less known products. I am sure they have a better customer service. Do not ever buy Samsung. Right now I am just putting up with my TV since I do not want to buy another one at this time.

“Streaks on display after warranty period, Samsung is no help” 2009-11-30
By Mark Hendricks
Watch out for Samsung LCD TVs.
This model worked fine for about 15 months, then
grayish vertical streaks appeared that looked
like smudges on the screen.
Had repairman come out, he said the pixels were
messed up on that portion of screen.
Replacement screens run $800 plus installation.
AND, they are backordered (leading me to believe this
is a fairly common problem).
Called Samsung and got the “song and dance” and
no service, I will not be buying other Samsung
products, and letting all know of my dissatifaction
with Samsung products and company policies.

“Stop working after 18 month!!!!” 2009-11-30
By Yi Wen
This TV stopped working after 18 month. Black strips appeared on the screen. Very bad quality. This is the worst quality TV that I ever had. Do not buy this!
I will never buy samsung again!

“Stopped working after 8 months – no visual, audio only” 2009-11-21
By Future female Doctor (DFW Texas USA)
I bought this TV for my husband and we have only been able to enjoy it for 8 months. It was a great tv at first! Then issues started happening:
When you turn it on, only the audio will come on, no visual. The screen is black!
I bought this brand because of its name and now I am so disappointed. It only came with a 3 month warranty from Tigerdirect. Buy another brand is my recommendation!!
We take care of our belongings well. It was just manufactured poorly. Our older tv’s are still working.
I am writing a letter to the President of Samsung. I am so disappointed and disgusted that this happens to a TV made in 2008.
